Battlefield Play4Free (often abbreviated BFP4F) was a first-person shooter developed by EA DICE and simple studios and published by EA. Based on the series of battle, the game features a battle scene modern warfare. Play4Free is based on a modified version of Battlefield 2 game engine,  with enhancements such as high-resolution illustrations and post-processing effects. The game is also less demanding on computer specifications, similar to Battlefield Heroes.

  As the game title suggests, the game was available to players for free online under the model "Play4Free" from Electronic Arts. Play4Free micropayment system uses a similar store similar to Battlefield Heroes. Battlefield Play4Free was announced on November 5, 2010. Open beta testing the game started on April 4  codes originally closed beta began to be distributed through e-mail on 30 November 2010. The game was released as an open beta on April 4, 2011. Battlefield Play4Free, along with other EA-free-to-play titles Battlefield Heroes, Need for Speed: World, and the World Cup, was closed on July 14, 2015. 

Battlefield Play4Free content has both Battlefield 2 and Battlefield: Bad Company 2. Battlefield includes two game modes, Assault and Rush. The game has a store leveling system in the game, and customizing game which is quite similar to that of Battlefield Heroes. Battlefield Play4Free currently has eight maps from Battlefield 2  and supports up to 32-player servers for online battles. Players are randomly chosen to play as any of the soldiers of Russian Ground Forces and Marine Corps of the United States.
